Abstract
The authors studied the relationship between the thyroid function states measuring 1131 uptakes and PB1131 conversion ratio and the number of missing teeth through clinical observations at. the Radioisotope Clinic of Seoul National University Hospital.
In order to test the thyroid function, 50 PC of sodium Iodide(1131) were administered orally in the fasting state to each sub; ectA The 1131 thyroid uptake was measured by a scintillation detector at a distance of 15 cm from the patients necix at the intervals of 24 and 48 hours following administration. The P$I131 conversion ratio in plasma was measured in 24 hours according to Clark and Shline¢¥s method. The missing teeth were counted visually:ard the third molars were not included. The result shows a statistically significant relationship between missing teeth and thyroid function. (r=0.715, and r=0.712) i.e., The higher 1131 thyroid uptake, the more the number of missing teeth.
